How to Print Digital Art Beautifully at Home or Online

A simple guide to making your digital print feel as elevated as it looks.

At Dune, we believe digital art should feel anything but digital. Every image in our collection is carefully composed and delivered in high-resolution so that when it meets paper, it carries the same presence, softness, and quality as a traditional print. Whether you're printing at home or through a professional lab, this guide will help you achieve the best possible results—quietly, beautifully, and with intention.

Step One: Choose Your Size with Purpose

When you download your digital print from Dune, you’ll receive several standard sizes (such as 4x6, 8x10, and 11x14). Choosing the right size depends on how and where you want your print to live:

  • Small (4x6 or 5x7): Ideal for styled shelves or layered gallery walls

  • Medium (8x10 to 11x14): Versatile, frame-friendly, and strong enough to stand alone

  • Oversized (16x20 and beyond): Perfect for clean, bold statement walls

Tip: If you're framing with a mount, consider a slightly smaller print size than your frame opening to create breathing room.

Option One: Print at Home

If you have a high-quality home printer and want full control over paper and output, home printing can be both convenient and rewarding.

What you’ll need:

  • A high-resolution print file (which we provide)

  • A photo or fine art paper—we recommend Hahnemühle Photo Rag or Epson Velvet Fine Art

  • A printer capable of handling heavier paper weights and offering pigment inks (Canon PIXMA Pro or Epson Expression are excellent options)

Print using “Actual Size” or “100% Scale” and select the highest quality output. Always preview your file before printing.

Option Two: Use a Trusted Print Lab

For gallery-level quality and longevity, we recommend having your print professionally printed and delivered to you or your framer.

Here are a few trusted labs we love:

Within the UK and US:

IOLabs (Pawtucket, Rhode Island)
Offers exceptional giclée prints on archival paper. Ideal for local pickup if you're based nearby.

Artifact Uprising
Clean, modern aesthetic with museum-quality paper options

Mpix
Known for quick turnaround and accurate colour profiles

The Print Space (UK-based, global delivery)
Fine art specialists with museum-standard papers and carbon-neutral delivery

Framing & Finishing

Once printed, your piece deserves a frame that complements it without overwhelming. Simple wood or metal frames with generous white mounts tend to work best with Dune prints—allowing the image to breathe within the space.

If you’re unsure where to begin, stores like Framebridge and Opposite Wall offer both bespoke and ready-made frames at a range of sizes.

Final Thoughts

Digital prints are more than just files—they're slow-made images designed to live with you. Whether you're styling a quiet corner or anchoring a room, the right print, paper, and frame can bring a grounded sense of presence to your space.
