Best Places to Buy Digital Art Online (And Why We Created Our Own Shop)
The world of digital art has expanded fast. What was once a niche category has become one of the most accessible ways to bring art into your home. But with that growth has come a familiar problem: too many options, not enough quality.
At Dune, we believe digital art should be beautiful, well-crafted, and rooted in intention—not churned out en masse or designed for trends. That belief is what led us to create our own shop. But before we dive into why we made that decision, we want to share a few of the places we actually admire in this space—shops that offer thoughtful, printable art and do it well.
A Few of the Best Places to Buy Digital Art Online
1. Etsy
Yes, it’s massive. Yes, it’s sometimes overwhelming. But Etsy is still one of the best places to discover independent artists and photographers offering digital downloads. The key? Filter by reviews, look for shops that highlight their materials or process, and avoid listings that look like generic templates.
Try searching terms like "fine art photography digital download" or "neutral landscape printable" to start refining your feed.
2. Juniper Print Shop
Known for its highly curated collection and clean, interior-friendly aesthetic, Juniper Print Shop offers both physical and digital prints. Their work leans more illustration- and design-heavy, but they’ve mastered the art of the elevated downloadable print.
3. Society6
Though mostly focused on art prints and home decor, Society6 has a small but growing collection of digital products. It’s a great spot if you want bold, graphic work or something more experimental—though less ideal for those seeking softness and subtlety.
4. The Printable Concept
Minimal, scandi-inspired, and design-focused. The Printable Concept curates contemporary digital prints that look right at home in neutral, architectural spaces. Their colour palettes and simplicity —with a playful edge— make them a great fit for your design-forward home.
5. Creative Market
More of a design resource than an art gallery, but worth mentioning. Creative Market offers photography downloads and digital art among its countless design assets. Some gems can be found here—especially if you're after texture-based or abstract work.
So Why Did We Create Dune?
Because we couldn’t find what we were looking for.
We wanted to offer photography that felt still, grounded, and refined—the kind of work that doesn’t shout for attention but settles into a room. Much of what we saw online felt overly polished, trendy, or impersonal. Others offered quality, but at a price point that made it inaccessible to many.
And just as importantly, we wanted to avoid overwhelming our customers with endless options. On sites like Etsy, Society6, Creative Market, and even Juniper, the sheer volume of listings can make it hard to know where to begin. Dune was built to be the opposite: a tightly curated collection of images that feel intentional, focused, and easy to live with. The collection rotates regularly, so there are always fresh finds—but never so many that you lose sight of what you love.
Dune was created to offer an alternative:
Fine art photography as digital download
High-resolution, gallery-level quality
Files prepared for printing in multiple sizes
Work that’s affordable, intentional, and rooted in place
Every image in our shop is taken by our in-house team. Many are captured on 35mm film. All are edited with a light hand to preserve the atmosphere of the place where they were made.
We offer digital-only because we believe in accessibility without compromise. You don’t need a gallery wall budget to live with beautiful, intentional work. You just need the right file and a good frame.
What to Look for in a Digital Art Shop
If you’re browsing other digital shops (and we hope you do), here are a few things to keep in mind:
Artist transparency: Can you tell who created the work? Where and how it was made?
File quality: Does the shop offer high-resolution files suitable for printing in multiple sizes?
Style consistency: Does the collection feel curated, or like a random assortment of templates?
Printing guidance: Are you supported with resources or recommendations on how to print and frame?
Good digital art is more than just a download. It’s a small act of curation—a way to bring meaning into a space without excess.
Final Thoughts
There are great resources out there for finding printable artwork online, and we’re glad the space is growing. But at Dune, we knew we had something different to say. Something a bit softer. More rooted. Less interested in decoration and more interested in presence.
We created Dune for those who want to live with images that feel like places—whether they’ve been there or not. And we’re proud to offer it in a way that’s accessible, sustainable, and quietly beautiful.
